Sin in Heaven

SIN IN HEAVEN is an Esoteric Enterprises duet game I hope to be running soonish. Set in a weirder, grimier version of our world, Sin in Heaven takes place in Las Vegas Below, in 2017. This post is mainly intended to help me collect my thoughts and to show something actually presentable to my player. Some choose-your-own-setup style questions for him, when he has the time:
You are significantly more wealthy than others of your status because you inherited a large lump sum of funds from a relative. Whom did you inherit from? Choose one.
- Your father, Martin Arnaud. His business was passed to a close confidant, but he did allocate some money for you to get by.
- Your mother, Eliana Arnaud. She passed the family business to your brother, but she did give you some money to get by when your brother inevitably cut you off.
When you started your less-than-legal lifestyle, someone took you in and now serves as your Primary Contact. Who is this person? Choose one.
- Your patron is Desmond Barnes, an affable plutomancer of some magnitude and skill. He runs almost all the occult casinos in Las Vegas, and deals mainly in exchanges, both normal and extranormal, while also being able to provide tons of money.
- Your patron is Mr. Saint, a definitely not affable vampire. While he runs less casinos than his rival, Mr. Saint does own the highest-quality occult casino in Las Vegas Below: Fortune's Wheel. Mr. Saint mainly deals in occult curios and favors, while also being able to provide the powers of vampirism.
- Your patron is Sister Grace, a high-ranking member of the Sanctuary of Saint Judas Thaddeus, an organized faith that worships the patron saint of the desperate and the hopeless. Sister Grace mainly deals in supernatural healing services, while also being able to wield the support of the lost masses.
Your patron has assembled a group of, let us say "people of normal value," you included. Who will be by your side when shit hits the fan? Choose two.
- A skinny Mystic named Paul Brown. Worships the Red Mother. Generally regarded as a loser, but underestimation has its value.
- A sixty-something year-old named Christian Horne. Old age is taking its toll on his Mercenary capabilities, but what he lacks in physicality he makes up in intellect.
- A small being of rock in a trench coat and a fedora named Trench Coat, to blend in. Nobody really gets what his (?) deal is, but he can sense treasure, so that's useful.
- A younger Explorer named Adonis Marsh. Failed YouTuber. He's not a good fighter, but he's excellent at what he calls "ultra-parkour."
Finally, campaign miscellany. Sin in Heaven as a campaign deals with themes of FAITH (whether it be surface level if you're uncomfortable with that or a deeper exploration of your character's beliefs) and FORTUNE (the interplay of luck and outside forces, both singular and systemic). Not that this is a railroad, but I'll try to work those themes in to make the setting more coherent, wherever you end up going. It will also probably end with the spring semester, to give it a good timeline, most likely less than a dozen sessions. I will try my best to be communicative and flexible! Let's have a fun time.
